Can spicy food really speed up your Metabolism and help you loose weight?

Well…I was recently watching the Dr. Oz show (Yes…I Love His Show) and he was talking about how spicy foods can speed up your metabolism to help your body burn fat. I never really thought about it before…but it makes sense.

There has been studies that have shown that a spicy meal, such as adding hot sauce or hot salsa to your meal, can provide a temporary increase in your metabolism of about 8% greater than a person’s typical metabolic rate.

I also read that eating spicy foods can also make you feel fuller and you will consume less food. Once again…allowing you continue your calories that will reach your fitness goals.

My Spicy Discovery

Recently, I started adding some spicy salsa to my egg sandwich in the mornings…not to loose more weight, but rather to spice up my breakfast sandwich. So…I discovered I’m getting more than one benefit from this one little tweak in my diet.

Plus…I love it!

I’m including my modified egg sandwich that should give you some good carbs, protein and a little spicy heat to get that metabolism running a little faster.

  • 1-Sandwich Thin (100 Cal)
  • 1/2 Cup Egg Beaters (50 Cal)
  • 1/2 Cup Broccoli (15 Cal)
  • 2-Turkey Bacon (50 Cal)
  • 2- Tomato Slices (10 Cal)
  • 1/4 Cup Chopped Onions (15 Cal)
  • 2 -Tbsp Spicy Salsa (10 Cal)

Total Calories = 250 – Protein 23 g – Carbs 26g – Fat 5g
